I have a Honeywell Wireless Doorbell Kit. Can I integrate it with a Honeywell Home Alarm Kit?

Yes, Honeywell Wireless Doorbell and Home Alarm Kits can work together using Honeywell ActivLink® technology. It is possible to:

  • Link the wireless push button to the alarm keypad to enable the keypad as an additional doorbell sounder.
  • Link the wireless doorbell to the alarm keypad to enable the doorbell as an additional internal siren.
I want to be informed if someone is approching my front door or entering my driveway. What Honeywell doorbell kits are suitable?

Honeywell offers Early Alert Kits, which come with a wireless doorbell, a wireless push button, and a wireless external motion sensor, which are all pre-linked in the box. Anyone approaching your driveway or front door will trigger the sensor, and in turn cause the doorbell to emit an alert sound. The product codes for these kits are either DC313xEA or DC915xEA. Product availability may differ from country to country.

Alternatively, Honeywell offers a wireless external PIR (Passive Infra-Red ) L430x motion sensor that can be linked to your existing Honeywell wireless doorbell , and this can also be configured to provide an alert sound.

I want to be informed if my front door is opened by my child or elderly relative. What Honeywell doorbell kits are suitable?

Honeywell offers Door Entry Kits, which come with a wireless doorbell, a wireless push button, and a wireless door and window sensor, which are all pre-linked in the box. Opening the door will trigger the sensor, and in turn cause the doorbell to emit an alert sound. The product codes for these kits are either DC313xDE or DC915xDE. Product availability may differ from country to country.

Alternatively, Honeywell offers a wireless door and window sensor HS3MAG1x (Single Pack) / HS3MAG2x (Twin Pack) that can be linked to your existing Honeywell wireless doorbell, and this can also be configured to provide an alert sound.

I have a large property and am concerned that a wireless doorbell may not be suitable. What is the longest wireless range available in the range of Honeywell wireless doorbells?

The longest wireless range available on a Honeywell wireless doorbell is 200m (measured in open field). However, the range can be extended up to 400m by adding a second wireless doorbell in the chain, if the primary Doorbell is a Series 9 Doorbell which has the Range Extender feature that will pass the signal on to the next doorbell in the chain. Please refer to table below:

Note: The wireless range of doorbells is reduced by the materials it has to pass through. In addition, metal items such as radiators, mirror backing or foil backed plaster board situated between the push button and the doorbell can block the signal.

I have hearing impairment and need a loud or louder doorbell, which is the loudest Honeywell doorbell available?

The loudest doorbell that Honeywell offers has a maximum volume of 90dB (measured from a distance of 1 meter). Please refer to the table below:

All Honeywell Doorbells (with the exception of DC311xx and DCR311xx) have visual alert features including a bright LED strobe effect light for the hard of hearing.

For Series 3 (DC315xx and DCR315xx), Series 5 and Series 9 Doorbells, they also have a multi-colour halo light feature that is able to assist the user to visually distinguish between different activations.

Can I link more than one push button to the same doorbell?

Yes for Honeywell wireless doorbells. They allow up to 6 wireless push buttons to be connected depending on the model. Please refer to the table below:

How do I know what type of doorbell system I currently have?
Check to see if there are wires connected to your existing push button or doorbell. If there are wires, you have a wired doorbell.
I am having trouble connecting my bell wires to the quick fit wired doorbell bracket.

Check if Bell Wire is used. If not, we suggest replacing the existing wire with Bell Wire.

Check if there is an adequate length of bare wire exposed, and that it is not folded. 8-9mm of exposed bell wire is recommended.

What type of batteries should I buy for my Honeywell Doorbell?

It is advisable to use good quality alkaline type batteries, because this type of battery has a more stable voltage, and lasts longer than the lower cost zinc-carbon type.

Rechargeable batteries (NiCd or NiMh) are not suitable because they have a lower voltage, and the doorbell circuitry will not operate reliably at the low voltage.

Can I install my push button outside where it gets wet?
Yes, the push button is waterproof ( IP55) and is protected from rain showers.
Can I use the supplied sticky pad to mount the push button to my door frame without using the wall bracket?
No. This is not advisable as the push button is designed to work with the wall bracket for easy battery maintenance. Sticking the push button directly on the door frame without the wall bracket will make it difficult for you to change the batteries in the future.
I have metal door frames, are the supplied fixings for the push button bracket suitable?
No. It is not advisable to mount the push button onto metal surfaces as the material can block wireless signals between the push button and the doorbell. However, if this is the only option then we recommend that you use the sticky pad provided as opposed to using the provided screws.
I have UPVC door frames, are the supplied fixings for the push button bracket suitable?
Yes, all push buttons are supplied with countersink screws suitable for wood and UPVC surfaces. For other applications you may need to source suitable screws and wall plugs.
I have plasterboard walls, are the supplied fixings for the doorbell wall bracket suitable?
No. While the screws and wall plugs supplied with all Honeywell Wireless Doorbells are suitable for most types of wall, for plasterboard walls and some other applications, you may need to source suitable screws and wall plugs.
How do I link additional Honeywell wireless motion sensors?

Press and hold the settings button settings on the doorbell until an amber light flashes, either from the small LED indicator on the side of the doorbell, or from the Halo Light (Depending on product type).

For external motion sensor (L430x): configure the motion sensor for Walk Test according to the selected Day or Night operating mode as follows:

  1. Set the TIME control fully anti-clockwise to its minimum setting.
  2. If the motion sensor is set to NIGHT operation for use with lighting adjust the DUSK control fully clockwise to its maximum setting. If however the motion sensor is set to DAY operation adjust the DUSK control fully anti-clockwise to its minimum setting. How do I link additional Honeywell wireless motion sensors?
  3. Move across the detection area to trigger the motion sensor. The doorbell will play an alert sound, and your motion sensor is now linked.

How do I replace the batteries on the wireless motion sensor?

  1. Remove the battery cover on the rear of the doorbell by pushing the tab and lifting.
  2. Replace batteries with the same type - either Alkaline LR6 (AA) or LR14 (C).
  3. Replace the battery cover.
How do I replace the batteries on my wireless push button?
  1. Remove the push button from its bracket by using a screwdriver to press the release tab and slide the push off the bracket.
  2. Locate the round battery cover, and using a coin, turn the battery cover 60°anti-clockwise. The battery cover will now be released from the back cover.
  3. Replace the CR2032 coincell battery.
  4. Refit the battery cover by aligning the arrow on the battery cover with the open lock symbol on the back cover. Press and turn 60°clockwise.
  5. Relocate the push on the bracket, ensuring that it is locked in position.
How do I know if my Honeywell doorbell has been muted for 3,6,9 or 12 hours?

If you are not sure of the Mute status of your doorbell, reset by pressing and holding the mute button Sleep Mode/Mute until it beeps, then set it again to your desired timing.

Can I set up the Secret Knock feature on a 2nd / 3rd push button with a different melody and Halo Light colour?

Yes, you can do this for as many push buttons as your doorbell can store in its memory. Your push button must first be already linked to your doorbell. Press your push button 3 times in quick succession. The doorbell will now sound the same melody as when you press the push button once. Now press the melody button P3 Chimeon your doorbell one or more times until you hear the melody you want to select for the "Secret Knock". You have exceeded the maximum number of wireless devices that your Honeywell doorbell can connect to. Your doorbell will accept 2, 4, 5 or 6 devices according to the model. Please refer to this table:

For doorbells with a Halo Light: After attempting to add the new device, wait for the doorbell to beep twice. You now have the option to remove one of the devices already linked to the doorbell, and replace it with the new device. A short press of the Settings button settings will cause the doorbell to indicate the Halo colour of the 1st stored device in the memory. A second short press will cause the Halo colour of the 2nd device to be displayed. Repeated short presses will cycle through the colours for all linked devices. A long press of the Settings button will cause the device indicated by the Halo colour to be overwritten with the new device. There is a 12 second window to complete this operation.

For doorbells with no Halo Light: The Red LED will flash rapidly. A short press of the Settings button settings (less than 2 seconds) will cause the oldest device in the doorbell memory to be overwritten. A long press of the Settings button settings (more than 2 seconds) will cause the newest device to be overwritten. If no button is pressed within 12 seconds, nothing will be changed.

If you are unable to identify the devices because no unique colours for the Halo Light was set, you can perform a factory reset to delete all linked devices from the memory, then link the new device. To do this, remove one battery (or turn off the power to a plug-in doorbell). Press and hold the settings button settings whilst replacing the battery (or turning on the power). An Amber light will flash, either from the small LED indicator on the side of the doorbell, or from the Halo Light (Depending on product type). At this point, you can link a new device.

How do I de-link or remove a device (push button, motion sensor, door/window sensor) from my doorbell?

If you have already reached the maximum number of devices for your doorbell, you will be able to de-link or remove a device by adding a replacement device at the same time. Please refer to the question below for instructions on how to do this.

If you have not reached the maximum number of devices for your doorbell, you will not be able to de-link or remove a single device. In this case, performing a factory reset (which removes all the linked devices) is the only option.

To perform a factory reset, remove one battery (or turn off the power to a plug-in doorbell). Press and hold the settings button settings whilst replacing the battery (or turning on the power). An Amber light will flash, either from the small LED indicator on the side of the doorbell, or from the Halo Light (Depending on product type). At this point, you can link a new device.

How do I locate the product code for my doorbell or accessory?

Either look at the bottom of your doorbell, or inside the battery cover, and locate the grey rating label. On the label, there will be a product code starting with 2 or 3 letters, then 3 digits, followed by some other letters. For example, DC315xx, DC515xx, DW915xx, and so on.

My doorbell has stopped sounding but the Halo Light and/or LED Strobe still light up.

The Sleep/Mute button may have been pressed or activated. The mute symbol may flash if the push button is activated. To deactivate, press and hold the mute button Sleep Mode/Mute until a beep is heard. The doorbell will now sound when the push button is pressed.

How do I change the doorbell melodies?

Press the push button. When the doorbell plays a melody, press the melody button P3 Chime on the doorbell one or more times to select a new melody.

How do I change the colour of the Halo Light?

Press the push button. When the Halo Light on your doorbell flashes, press the Sun button sun on the doorbell one or more times to select a different halo colour.

How do I switch off the Halo Light and/or the LED Strobe?

To change the Halo Light / LED Strobe sequence, press the sun symbol button sun until you find a suitable light sequence.

My doorbell has stopped working. I`ve checked and replaced the batteries, but it still refuses to work.

Try performing a factory reset. To do this, remove one battery (or turn off the power to a plug-in doorbell). Press and hold the settings button settings whilst replacing the battery (or turning on the power). My Honeywell Wired Doorbell has stopped working. What could be the problem?
  1. Check to see if the bell wires are firmly connected at both ends - at the Wired Push Button and the Wired Doorbell bracket, and not dislodged. If not, reconnect the bell wires.
  2. Check if the Wired Doorbell is connected to the wired bracket properly. If not, reconnect the doorbell to the bracket.
  3. Check to see if there are any signs of corrosion or contamination on the Wired Push Button. If so, clean the corrosion and/or contamination off the contacts. If this is not possible, you may need to replace the wired push button.
  4. If the Wired Doorbell is powered by battery and not via a transformer, the batteries may have been depleted and you may have noticed a low battery warning light on the doorbell. Replace the batteries and reinstall.
  5. If the Wired Doorbell is powered by transformer, then the transformer may need replacing. (Caution: It is recommended to use a qualified electrician to check operation and/or replace the transformer)
The battery life on my Honeywell Push Button did not last the specified duration.
The battery life of Lithium coin cell batteries may be reduced and functionality may be impacted if they are used in a cold or freezing conditions. Heavy usage will also reduce the operational life from the battery.
The battery life on my Honeywell Doorbell did not last the specified duration.

The battery life specified is calculated on typical usage using good quality alkaline batteries. Heavy usage and/or use of unsuitable batteries for example low quality Zinc will reduce the operational life from batteries.

The battery life of alkaline batteries will also be reduced if they are used in a hot or cold climate. For the longest battery life, use the doorbell within a temperature range of 5 to 25 deg C.

My illuminated Wired Push Button light has stopped working

Check if the push button has been jammed in the closed position which may result in the push button light not being powered. If so, release the jammed button and ensure that there is no restriction on its movement.

If Wired Push Button light is still not functional, the light element may have failed. If so, you may need to replace the Wired Push Button module.

My push works intermittently, what could be causing this?

In cold conditions, poor location or environment, and when the doorbell system is operating at the maximum range, it is advisable to replace the batteries more frequently (i.e. every 12–18 months) to maintain optimum performance. Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indicator is activated.

Incorrect installation of the CR2032 coin cell battery may also damage the battery contact. Check the battery contact and reinsert the battery.

Why does the doorbell beep twice after playing a melody?
The doorbell beeps twice to notify you that the push button battery is low and needs replacing.
My push button has stopped working.
Check to see if the battery needs replacing, by replacing the CR2032 coin cell battery.
What Guarantee does Honeywell offer on the range of Doorbells, Alarms and accessories?
Honeywell offers a 2 year Guarantee on all Doorbell kits, Alarm kits, and accessories.

All old batteries must be disposed of safely using the facilities available in your region.
Can I service the Doorbell and Push Button myself?
The Doorbell and Push Button contain no serviceable parts, except for replacement of batteries.
Can I get replacement components such as push button brackets, doorbell brackets, push button name plates, and spare name labels?
Unfortunately Honeywell do not currently offer such components separately.
